Students who will be 18 years old by Election Day, November 6, may vote IF they have registered by Wednesday, October 17. Students may register in person or download an on-line form and mail it in (see www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/). For more information, contact the Newton Election Commission at www.ci.newton.ma.us/gov/elections/ or call 617-796-1350.
Those attending college who receive grants, scholarship, or any other funding should find out the rules of their funding before they declare their residency (whether in MA or any other state) so they don’t put their funding at risk.
Absentee ballots must be requested (by the voter or by a family member), either in person or by mail, by noon on Monday, November 6, and they must be received by the Elections Department by the time polls close on Election Day. Forms are at www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/.
