NSHS Art Students Win 42 Awards at Regional Scholastic Art Competition

Thirty-three students earned forty-two awards in the 63rd Annual Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. South students received twenty Gold Keys, twelve Silver Keys, and ten Honorable Mentions. Gold and Silver Key winning art is on display at the State Transportation Building. According to The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers website, “At the regional level, 7 -10% of the works submitted receive Regional Gold Keys, 10-15% receive Silver Keys and 15 – 20% receive Honorable Mentions.”

  • Gianna Fernandes Honorable Mention and Gold/Art
  • Jacob Rozowsky Honorable Mention/Art
  • Olivia Hamilton/Gold Key/Art

In addition to an outstanding overall showing, Newton South students won the most Film and Animation awards in the state.
