The RAD program is a women’s self-defense program that covers topics of risk awareness and risk reduction. Because of topics covered during the program this course will be for women 16 and older. Along with the lecture portion, the majority of the time in the program is spent learning hands on techniques. Women work at their pace to learn that they are capable of physically defending themselves if the situation ever arises, and they choose to do so. It is a very self-empowering course that brings out a newfound self-confidence in many women.
The start date is Sunday March 24th, followed by Thursday March 28th, with the final class commencing on Sunday April 7th. All classes will run from 4PM to approximately 7PM. The course may go a few minutes past 7PM to make sure all information in the program has been covered. The class will be held at Temple Emmanuel on Ward St. in Newton. If you have questions, please contact Sgt. Billy Spalding at the Newton Police Department, 617-796-2120, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
**Courses in self-defense are forming at South in May for boys and girls. Details coming soon.
