Introducing our new Vice Principal

As you may know, South’s longtime Vice Principal, Mary Scott, will be retiring at the end of this year.  We will have much more to say about Mary at another time, but suffice it to say that her contributions to Newton South are numerous and profound!

At this time, however, after an extensive search involving over 100 applicants, I am pleased to announce that Candice Beerman has accepted our offer to be our next Vice Principal!

Candice is currently finishing her administrative degree at Boston College and an internship with Mike Welch at Framingham High School.  Prior to that, she served as a science department chair at the EF International School in Tarrytown, New York, and taught both Chemistry and Biology at the high school level.

I want to thank first and foremost the wonderful Mary Scott, who was very helpful during our selection process (and has agreed to mentor Candice next year!!).

I also want to again thank the committee for their efforts:

Donna Gordon, Housemaster, Co-Chair
Marc Banks, Housemaster, Co-Chair

Brian Hammel, Instructional Technology Support, Business Teacher
