The NSHS PTSO holds grade-wide parent information sessions, often referred to as “coffees”, three times during the school year. We meet as parents to ask questions, brainstorm solutions and get to know each other. We have no set agenda, other than checking in with each other about topics relevant to the school year. The first time, in the fall, happens in the morning at parent homes with no school staff present, so that we can meet one another. The second round happens different mornings in January at Newton South, so that we can check in with Housemasters and Guidance Counselors. The third round in the spring goes back to parent homes, but takes place in the evening, to accommodate working parents. All of these events operate like open houses and are very flexible, in that parents are welcome to come late or leave early to fit their schedules. In addition, this year we have moved the Community Dinner to the fall (Saturday, November 8th), to give parents a chance to meet one another across all grades early in the school year.
Please find below the schedule for the first round of information sessions. All of them take place from 8 – 9:30 AM. There is NO need to RSVP, feel free to attend the day that corresponds to your students’ grade. Many thanks to these Newton South parents for generously opening their homes!
If you can’t make these dates, please consider joining the Facebook group for your students’ grade. Click here for information on how to sign up. Any questions, please email Betsy and Emily at firstname.lastname@example.org.
