PTSO Distributes Cookies and Lemonade to Students as Act of Kindness

Many thanks to NSHS parents Didi von Deck and Christina Brooks, and students Nicole Brooks, Josh Goldenberg, Elizabeth Rufo, and Jan Watson for organizing a special student appreciation event for the end of Term 3!  Free cookies and lemonade were provided to Newton South students on March 31 to help brighten up the students’ day during the last week of third term.   The students also enjoyed an advisory full of different music genres played live at various locations across the school by fellow students and faculty as part of twice yearly event called “Passing Time”.

The idea for random acts of kindness originated from a discussion with student representatives in the South Senate and PTSO last spring, and was brought to fruition by the NSHS Emotional Wellbeing Committee with help from Vice Principal Candice Beerman, plus Solange Morrissette and Maria Mastroianni at Whitson’s, Building Aide Addrene Coney and the school custodians.  If you would like to join this committee and help with other future random acts of kindness for NSHS students, please contact Betsy Blagdon or Emily Prenner at
