In March, Agawam High School sophomore Alex Scafuri was heading home from volleyball tryouts at his high school. Tragically, a driver who was under the influence hit Alex and continued to drive away (news story). Alex suffered a spinal cord injury and was paralyzed from the chest down. To help Alex and his family, the Newton South volleyball program will be donating all proceeds from their Senior Night game vs. Cambridge to Alex and his family. The match is scheduled tonight, Friday, May 22 at 6:30PM. Admission is $5 for students, and $7 for adults, with additional donations accepted. Please come support the Newton South volleyball team, our seniors, and most importantly, Alex. If you can’t make it to the game, you can donate online.
