All students who have signed up for Spring sports — and any other athletes interested — should report to the Field House on March 18 at 2:15PM. We will have a guest speaker working with our student-athletes that day. The afternoon will feature James Orrigo, an inspiring student-athlete, who turned injuries into positive outcomes.
James Orrigo’s mission is to impact young adults in a positive way. He uses music, videos, and meaningful stories to inspire and captivate. James discovered his passion for music after suffering a severe head injury as a high-school athlete.
He was the first recipient of the MIAA Student Service Award due to his work around awareness about high-school concussions. He was a freshman playing lacrosse in high school when he sustained two vicious blows to the head. (The opponent was suspended for 1 year.) After missing almost a whole year of high school, he returned to graduate, playing varsity tennis the last two years. He has devoted his young life to helping others, and his story is very touching and inspiring. He has presented workshops at the Sportsmanship Summit at Gillette Stadium and at the New England Leadership Institute as well as numerous schools and colleges in the USA and Canada. James formed Lad in a Battle, uniting others to make a positive difference.
