The PTSO would like to thank Suzanne Freudberg and Katherine Kotik and their team of parent, student, and community volunteers who donated, sorted, moved, set up, and sold thousands of books at our annual used book sale. It truly does take a village to pull off an event like this and we are grateful to the many volunteers who played a role, big or small, in the success of the sale. The sale raised over $1,800, which will be used to support literacy initiatives in the English department, including building classroom libraries, purchasing classroom sets of books, and providing financial support for the fall “One School One Question” event.
The PTSO would especially like to acknowledge the students who chose to help set up the book sale rather than sleeping in on a late-start day: Ariel Ervin ‘15, Jeff Zhang ‘16, Justin Kwan ‘16, Jinyuan Shi ‘19, Nayleth Lopez ‘19, Bella Hamilton ‘19, Jason Kan ‘17, Jill Oliver ‘16, Ksenia Potapov ‘16, and Robin Acosta ‘17.
In the words of English Department Head Brian Baron, “… [we] love being able to come together as a community of readers for a few days each spring, and none of it would be possible without all of you donating your time and energy to make it happen.”
Last but not least we would also like to thank Eagle Leasing for donating the storage unit used for collecting and sorting book donations.
