Soccer is the ultimate team game—no one succeeds without every player working together toward the same goal. That’s the way it is for NSHS Girls’ Soccer early in the 2016 season. Without the team’s goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and strikers, the whole system can’t come together to spell success.
Early in the season, all the parts have been meshing and the team is rolling forward, with unselfish contributions from countless players. One such player is sophomore wing/striker Audrey Lavey. With the help of her mates, Audrey is putting up gaudy goal-scoring numbers through the first four games and has rippled the twine on 9 occasions and assisted on another.
Audrey combines outstanding speed, exceptional ball control, and an unstoppable determination to keep her team ahead of their opponents. Following a brilliant freshmen year that saw Audrey torch opponents with several critical goals, this season she’s already tied her goal output for all of last season, during just four games in 2016. Audrey would be the first to point out that it’s the team effort that gives her the opportunity to score goals at a record pace. Newton South Girls’ Soccer is all about team.
