SouthFest is Newton South’s after-prom event, organized and run by parent volunteers. Our goal is to provide a safe and fun post-prom experience for seniors with or without dates. As an alternative to house parties, we provide a senior-parent-free environment with fun, games, music and food. There is a police detail onsite, non-senior parent chaperones and free ride service to anywhere in Newton. In our seventeen years of running SouthFest, there has never been a serious prom night accident or injury to a Newton South senior or date. SouthFest is on Tuesday, June 6th this year.
In addition to being organized and run by parent volunteers, SouthFest is almost entirely funded by donations from the South community. We rely on donations across all grades, so please consider making a donation even if your son or daughter is not a senior. It’s a great way to pay it forward for the time when your child reaches this milestone year. To make a donation to SouthFest, please go to the SouthFest donation page.
In the coming weeks, we will also be sending out more details about volunteer opportunities. We need some help leading up to SouthFest with decorations and other organizational tasks, and we need a lot of help on the day of the event to decorate, set up, chaperone, and clean up. Thanks to all of you who have already emailed to volunteer your help. Right now, we are compiling a list of volunteers and will get back to you after April vacation.
Thanks for your support in helping to make SouthFest happen for our seniors!
