The PAC (Power, Agility, Conditioning) Training Camp for South athletes will be held July 10 –August 17, 8AM–10AM, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at Newton South. The goal of the camp is to help student-athletes enhance their health and skill-related fitness as well as understand the concepts of those movements during competition. It will prepare student-athletes for the upcoming Fall season. This camp will put them in the best possible position to succeed, giving them the tools, agility, conditioning, and power needed to be a highly successful athlete at Newton South. By participating in the PAC training, student-athletes will also reduce injuries as well as increase injury-recovery time during the season. Students will focus on specific skills on specific days—speed (Tuesday), agility (Wednesday), and power (Thursday). Student-athletes will also learn dynamic stretching, interval training, and rest and recovery time.
The camp will be led by Michael Bower (M.Ed Physical Education; A.C.E. Certified Personal Trainer; Assistant Football Coach at Newton South; Assistant Track Coach at Newton North; over 20 years of Track and Football coaching; and MIAA Assistant Track coach of the year, 2013 and 2017).
