Free Seminar at Framingham State: “College Readiness for Parents”, Thur., Oct. 19 at 7PM

Framingham State University is hosting a free seminar on Thursday, October 19th from 7-9PM.  The seminar is “College Readiness for Parents: What Every Parent Needs to Know”. The focus of this event is NOT on financial aid but on helping parents understand the difficulties students have with the transition to college in order to help build the habits needed to become successful. Everyone is welcome to attend, but the seminar is especially helpful for the parents of students in grades 7-10.

Topics to be discussed will be as follows:

  • Expectations and assumptions of college faculty
  • Work/study habits and organizational skills: high school vs. college
  • Why getting good grades now is not a guarantee for future success
  • Academic accommodations: K-12 vs. college
