As we finish our regular-season games this week, I walk the fields and the gyms observing our students and coaches continuing to work hard while learning and adapting to new plays. Sometimes their efforts and dedication aren’t reflected in the results they try to achieve. It’s important that we, as a community, and you, as parents, support the student-athletes in a positive way at this time of the year. I am asking you to revise our conversation at the beginning of the season related to the work our coaches and teams are doing by developing character skills as the cornerstone that drives the process that eventually improve results. This work is not easy. Your sons and daughters are learning lessons beyond X and O while balancing busy lives. Your attendance in the stands is very valuable, and your positive support for teams and coaches is needed. We all want the best experience for our children—the same wish that our opponents have. While you’re at our games, we ask you to:
- Be positive;
- Cheer for all involved; and
- Remember that it’s just a game.
Your child will be grateful to have such a positive supporter in the stands.
