Post-Secondary Transition 101: Understanding Student Rights and Best Practices
Thursday, March 15th from 7-9PM in Rm. 304 of the Newton Education Center, 100 Walnut St., Newton
Transition describes the years (age 14 on) that a student is in special education when the IEP must focus on the student’s departure from special education into adulthood, a vision statement for post -secondary life, and getting the skills through IEP goals to make the vision a reality.
Julia Landau, Esq. of Massachusetts Advocates for Children will present on the law and what districts need to do to regarding transition assessment and services.
Jill Reynolds, Director of Disability Employment Programs at Public Consulting Group, will present on the value and best practices of a jobs program, a cost-effective transition cornerstone.
