The Athletics department received the following information regarding an opportunity to volunteer for a great cause. Please sign up on the giving link to participate and make our CORE values visible to the community.
Student-athletes can participate or provide volunteer support at Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition’s (MBCC) annual statewide Against the Tide event on Saturday, June 16, in Hopkinton State Park or Saturday, August 18, at Nickerson State Park in Brewster. Against the Tide is a multi-sport event offering the opportunity to paddleboard, swim, run, walk, or kayak for breast cancer prevention. For those looking to really challenge themselves, Against the Tide offers the opportunity to participate in an Aquathon component comprised of a 1-mile competitive swim followed by either a 5K or 10K run (chosen by the participant). Sign up for a special reduced registration fee for students at http://mbcc.org/breast-cancer-prevention/against-the-tide/.
Students interested in volunteering their time for Against the Tide should contact Cheryl Osimo, MBCC Executive Director, at email@example.com, tel. 508-246-3047. MBCC will be providing appreciation certificates and is also willing to provide a letter for community service hours earned during the event. Against the Tide is a great way for student-athletes to become active in their community and support a cause that impacts all Massachusetts women and their families.
