We’re pleased to announce the Newton Parks and Recreation has selected Brandon Lee as the 2018 recipient of the Hamill Award, which is given to one baseball player from either Newton North or Newton South and is named for Bill Hamill. Bill was a former three-sport star who graduated from Newton High School in 1955. Named All-Scholastic for four years in a row, Hamill went on to play baseball at Holy Cross College for two years before signing with the Red Sox. He played for four years in the Red Sox farm system in the Eastern League. His career was cut short by a brain hemorrhage in 1969. The Hamill Award has been given annually since 1970. Brandon Lee is receiving this award for second year in a row. Congratulations, Brandon, for representing the ideals of commitment and excellence on the baseball field!
