Thank you to all of the fantastic volunteers who volunteered at SouthFest! With your help, we were able to provide our seniors with a fun and safe place to go after the prom. We had great decorations, wonderful food (the kids were very hungry!), and lots of fun activities. We could not put on SouthFest without the support of all of the parents who show up to decorate, chaperone, serve food, check the kids in and out, work at the casino tables, and clean up. It was a late night but it was fun!
Special thanks to Heidi Gambino who once again worked her decorating magic and turned the school into a festive luau. Also a huge thank you to Elyssa Freedman and her fantastic team including Jonathan Freedman, Michael and Svet Levin, and Peter Shaevel who solicited a truly awesome spread of food and then set it up, served it, and cleaned it up. We are also very grateful that Andrea Cymbalista Cohen came out of retirement to give the food committee the benefit of her long SouthFest experience.
While the party is behind us for this year, we have not raised enough money to cover our costs. We are still about $4,000 dollars short of our $16,000 fundraising goal (most of the money goes to pay for the entertainment–inflatables, casino, arcade games, photo area, psychics and tattoo artists). We had more kids this year than last year or the year before, and the seniors tell us that providing lots to do is a big draw for them to attend. We would like to continue to provide the same level of entertainment in the coming years, but won’t be able to do so if we can not cover the cost. To make a donation to SouthFest, please click here.
