The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams participated at the MSTCA Championship this past weekend. The Girls team showed great potential in the Senior race, even though many of our runners were underclassmen! Medal winners in the Freshman race were Lily Bulczynski (13th) and Amanda Hart (20th). At the Senior race, juniors Audrey Shuler finished 7th and Alisha Stadnicki was 16th. In 21st place came junior Tyne Burke. Senior Tal Sternberg finished 61st, and sophomore Saylor Flannery finished 64th.
In the freshman 3K, Garrett Jacunski’s 17th-place finish led our freshmen, followed by Hiro Sakuma, Brendan Weissel, and Alex Siracusa. The sophomore class dominated their 5K race; Brett Miller was the overall winner, with a time of 16:59, followed by Eero Helenius, Owen Holland, Jonathan Orelowitz, and Will Lavey, finishing 4th, 6th, 8th, and 13th, respectively. Our juniors performed really well, too! Ethan Jacunski set a new personal record of 16:45 for that course and claimed 3rd place overall. Ben Giesser’s 15th-place finish (17:36) was one of his best races of the season. The seniors showed great leadership with Jared Stotsky’s 17:37 time resulting in a 21st finish. The Boys team also collected food for Boston food pantries prior to the start of the race. Well done, team!
