The Track teams participated in a freshman/sophomore meet held at the Reggie Lewis Track on Sunday, January 6. Several athletes placed in the top 12. On the Girls side, Danya Goldstein finished 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 32’2.25″. The Boys team placed the following athletes: Garrett Jancuski (12th in the 1000m), Canron Dioun (11th in the Mile), Brett Miller (4th in the 2-Mile), Eero Helenius (2nd in the 600m), and 4X400 (6th in the Relay). Freshman Justin Levy won the 300m with a time of 36.54 seconds. On Wednesday (January 9) the Boys Track team had an outstanding day against Lincoln-Sudbury at Boston University. The team outscored L-S 53 to 47 coming down to the last two relays that Newton South won! More outstanding performances from Dany Collins, who cleared 6’3″ in the High Jump, and from Matt Gonzalez, who jumped a personal best of 5’9″. It was a real team effort with field and track events combining points for the win.
