Sad News

As you know, last week we learned of the death of Nick Whitman, a senior here at South, due to a recurrence of leukemia.  Our entire school community is deeply saddened and our thoughts are with his family and friends. Nick was best known for his sense of humor, his genuine positivity, and his courage in the face of adversity. He was a mentor to younger students in our school community and he will be greatly missed.

At the request of the family, all services and arrangements will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund at Dana Farber or Boston Children’s Hospital, 6th Floor Resource Room (for family meals).

Death affects children in different ways. Our guidance counselors are available to provide support and resources to your students here at school. Should you wish to have a conversation with your child at home, I would offer the following resources:
