Dear Newton South Families,
It is with great anticipation, excitement, and pleasure that we welcome you to the 2012 – 2013 school year!
Our halls are lonely over the summer, and it has been wonderful to see our terrific students again as fall athletic practices and theater rehearsals start. Yesterday’s ninth grade ice cream social was a real treat, as eager and bright students took tours of the school and met some of our faculty for the first time.
I also want to thank the hosts of our ninth grade evening coffees: Julie Mallatt & Bill Jenks; Joanne Mead & Peter Mahoney; Robin & Rich Maltz; Jamie Chaloff; and Torylee Cigna & Deb Baye.
I am delighted to share with you a new homework-free weekend policy that we are piloting this year. (See the announcement below.)
We preach “balance” and “healthy choices” here at South, and our goal is that these practices will contribute to a greater sense of balance for all, and in turn benefit the entire South community.
I want to wish all of you a safe and joyful holiday weekend, and I look forward to greeting our students on Tuesday!
Principal, Newton South High School
