Remaining “Welcome To South” Info Sessions for Incoming Freshman Parents/Guardians with Principal Joel Stembridge

The first two freshman info sessions are now closed, but the remaining sessions still have plenty of room. The information presented at these meetings will be the same as the first two, although additional information about the METCO program (8/22) and Special Education (8/28) will also be covered. If you cannot attend one of these sessions, most of this information (and much more) will be presented at Freshman/New Parents Night on Thursday, September 12 at 7PM at Newton South in the Auditorium.

Please RSVP for one of the following evenings with Principal Joel Stembridge. These meetings are for adults only and parents/guardians should only attend one session as the basic information presented will be the same. Principal Stembridge will speak for one hour giving an overview of Newton South and then answer questions for the second hour. If your student is a general education student, you are more than welcome to attend either August 22 or August 28.

Thursday, August 22, 7PM for incoming METCO parents/guardians, and parents/guardians of general education students, at the home of Dawne Clarke & Joseph Weekes, 78 Centre Street, Apt #2, Dorchester. Meet METCO Coordinator Katani Sumner along with Principal Stembridge. Click here to RSVP.

Wednesday, August 28, 7PM for parents/guardians of students receiving special education services, and parents/guardians of general education students, at the home of Emily Prenner & Chris Steele, 702 Chestnut Street, Waban. Meet Special Education Department Chair Kathleen Farnsworth along with Principal Stembridge. Please park on either Woodward Street or Larchmont Ave. Click here to RSVP.

If you did not receive the previous PTSO emails for freshman families, due to a now-corrected technical glitch with our database, you can see what we sent on the PTSO website by clicking “Announcements>For Freshmen” in the menu or just click here. Most notices sent by the PTSO remain available in the website’s archive and are also searchable in the text box at the top of the right column on each page of the site.
