In case you missed Junior Parent Night, the Newton South kick-off to the college admissions and post-graduation planning process, we have assembled some notes here to bring you up to date, including links to important websites and checklists. Topics discussed include: testing (SAT, ACT, AP, SAT Subject Tests), Naviance software system, building a list of potential colleges to apply to, college visits, the Common Application website, teacher recommendations, interviews, and various tips from Newton South guidance counselors.
As this process should be individualized to meet the needs and desires of each student and family, please keep in mind the best thing you can do to support your child is be in touch regularly with his/her guidance counselor. We highly recommend that you make an appointment to speak with them in the next few months, if you have not already done so. (Please click here for a list of guidance counselors and their email addresses. These notes are intended to be an overview and not a comprehensive listing. Please click here to see the notes.
If at any time you have questions, you are always welcome to email the PTSO at: email@example.com.
