The Newton South School Council Needs 2 Parent Representatives

The job of the School Council is to advise the Principal on budget, school improvement plans, and other issues of general interest. The term of office is two years, with a second 2-year term allowed. Parents/guardian members are expected to attend meetings one Tuesday of each month during the school year (October-June). Meetings are in the Faculty Dining Room from 4:30 to 6:00pm. We need two parents to join the current parent representatives: Nancy Bauer (2015), Jodi Detjen (2016), Sue Flicop (2015), Linda Green (2015), and Sue Kirshenbaum (2015). We offer a grateful thank you to Michael Oshins whose term (and time at South) ends this year.

Candidates should submit a brief statement (250 words or less) which should address the following:

  • Identify the elementary and middle school attended by your NSHS student
  • Particular interest, background, skills and expertise which have prepared you for the role
  • Qualities you would bring to the School Council

Please submit statements to by 5:00pm on May 30, 2014. Elections will be held via email from June 2 to June 13 at 12:00 noon.
