Register Online for Winter Sports by Nov. 26

Dear Parents:
Winter sports season is about to start! Each sport had informational meetings during the past month where the students received directions to register for the season. As it was communicated back in early October, registration is now online. Coaches will not collect paperwork or athletic fees on the first day of pre-season.  Please be advised that only registered students will be able to tryout for sports.  The deadline for registration has been moved up to Wednesday, November 26 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Here are the directions to be able to participate:

BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOUR ONLINE REGISTRATION: Complete the online concussion course.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires that all athletes, band members, cheerleaders, and parents/guardians take an online concussion course each year.  As you complete the registration process, you will be required to sign-off indicating that you both (parent/guardian and student) have completed the online course. or

HAVE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION HANDY:  Doctor information, Health insurance information, Date of current physical.
Please notice that all students must have a current health physical on file in the nurse’s office.  To comply with DPH regulations, schools have the option to choose to adopt a policy that requires physical examinations within 12 or 13 months of the student’s last physical. Newton South will honor the 13-month period. Once a student’s physical has expired, the student will no longer be eligible to participate. To regain eligibility, a new physical form must be on file at the nurse’s office.
