According to Boys Varsity Hockey coach Chris Ryberg, “Griffin Connolly, senior captain, has been a four-year member of the Boys Varsity Hockey program, and his contributions have been a huge factor in our 7-1-1 start. His two goals Wednesday night vs. league rival Bedford were key in solidifying our first-place standing in the DCL/MVC 3. Griffin is willing to play any position we ask, even while possibly sacrificing personal statistics. As we ask of all our student-athletes in the hockey program, he has checked his ego at the door from day one. Named captain (along with fellow senior Connor Kee) for the second straight year, Griffin has once again provided the steady senior leadership that every team sport requires. His low-key approach to the game while maintaining the focus that the coaching staff expects has definitely been contagious in our locker room. And for all of that, I am happy to nominate Griffin Connolly as the Newton South Athlete of the Week.”
