Newton’s Pre-K and Kindergarten Soccer Fall Registration Is Open

Registration is now open for our Fall season. The program is available to all Newton students entering Kindergarten this Fall or, for our Pre-K league, who will be entering Kindergarten in September 2024. This program is a unique opportunity for children and families to become acquainted with others who attend or will attend the same Newton school as other children in the neighborhood. Disrupting Implicit Bias Presentation

SEPAC is co-hosting an event with the Newton PTOC (Parent Teacher Organization
Council), FORJ (Families Organizing for Racial Justice), and ELPAC (English Learners Parent
Advisory Council). The event will be held at the Angier Elementary School cafeteria for those who are
able to attend in-person 7:30-9pm and over Zoom:
MEETING ID: 830 8522 8831

We’ll first hear a presentation from Dr. Tessa Charlesworth, a researcher at Harvard who studies how
and why beliefs and attitudes about different social groups can change. Her presentation will
provide an overview of bias in society with respect to various social groups and explore what
research tells us are the best interventions to shift the biases of a society, organization, and
individual. Q&A and then a community discussion to follow.

  • Pre-K League: for Newton children who are entering kindergarten in the fall of 2023
  • Kindergarten League: for current Newton kindergartners

Since 1993, Kindergarten Soccer has been introducing children to soccer in a fun and non-competitive environment where girls and boys develop friendships, learn teamwork and gain confidence.

We play on Saturday mornings at the Oak Hill Middle School fields, starting April 29th and will run for six (6) weeks.

Join us and meet other families in your neighborhood!

Game times are based on school assignment and will be communicated after teams are created (in early April).

Kindergarten Soccer is a program created and hosted by the Zervas Elementary School PTO since 1993.

One to One Mentoring, accepting applications

Newton’s One-to-One Program, our very own “big brother/sister program” has been matching wonderful high schoolers with children in grades one through five for over 40 years.  If you think your elementary-aged child would benefit from a mentor in their life and you can commit 2 hours each week to have your child meet with a high school mentor from November to May – you should contact us.
