MATH TEAM UPDATE
Last week the Newton South math team had its first meet in the Greater Boston Math League (GBML). All team members did very well in both the individual and team rounds. It was a great start of the season. The next meet is in November.
November will be quite busy for the team. Aside from GBML students will participate in the Duke Math Meet on November 6 and in the Harvard-MIT Math Tournament on November 13. AMC 10/12 is also moved to November with exam dates of 11/10 and 11/16. Good luck to all the participants!
A group of Newton South students is running a math club at Oak Hill. The club has regular weekly practices and will participate in Mathcounts and a few other math tournaments.
Teacher’s Appreciation Lunch November 2, 2021
On Tuesday, 11/2, the PTSO will provide lunch for Newton South’s staff. In keeping with COVID protocols, boxed lunches will be provided, with offerings including individual pizzas and sandwiches, as well as sides of chips, salad and dessert. The catering will be provided by Sweet Tomatoes, a delicious local pizzeria and sandwich shop owned by Newton South parent Hedy Jarras.
Please show your support of our staff and teachers by donating to the luncheon. Rather than our usual ask of donated items, the boxed lunches will be available for purchase online. For a donation of $14.00 per box, you may purchase an entire lunch for a staff member. There’s no need to go to the store, prepare or deliver anything. Click on the link below to contribute.
