Alpine Ski Team results

Despite the rain and thin snow cover, the Alpine Ski Team completed their final slalom race of the season. The girls team once again took 1st place by 17 points over their next closest competitor, AB. That leaves the girls with a 35-1 record for the season, a landmark achievement!  The boys placed 3rd again and, again, narrowly missed 2nd place by a margin of 4 points. The boys ended their season with a 21-15 record, which placed them in 4th place overall.  A big shout out to Saylor Flannery, Maddie Bray, Charlotte Doran, Masie Abbiati, Logan Flannery and Roey Lashem who are heading to the state championships. Wish them luck!

Girls and Boys track teams completed DCL championship

Our Girls and Boys track teams competed at the DCL championship last Saturday. The girls finished 5th and the boys finished 2nd. There were great performances and outstanding team spirit. both teams participated at the Division 1 State meet on Wednesday.

Boys Hockey team

Our Boys Hockey team won two tremendous games last week vs Lowell and Bedford High School. The team will face Newton North on Saturday, February 15 at Ryan Arena. It will be a great day of Newton pride and community bonding. Admission will be donated to the Newton Police force. It is Senior night for both teams.

Girls hockey team

Our Girls hockey team defeated Weymouth 3-0. The team followed that game with a great senior night before the Wellesley game. Co-captain Taylor Paterson and teammates, Leah Kaster and Samantha Shavel were celebrated along with seniors from Newton North.

Emily Autor, the South hockey player with Brookline, will receive the Senior honors on Saturday, February 15 at their home game at BU. Emily finishes her four years with the Brookline squad and is a Co-Captain of the team.

Girls and the boys’ basketball teams result

The Girls and the boys’ basketball teams had solid wins vs Acton Boxborough last Friday. The girls’ team will honor its seniors on Friday, February 14 before their game vs CRL. The boys senior day will be Tuesday, February 18 at 5;30 PM just before the varsity game vs Natick.

Boys Swimming and Diving team recipient of 2020 MIAA Div

Our Boys Swimming and Diving team was the recipient of the 2020 MIAA Div. 1 Sportsmanship Award. The team and their coaches were recognized at the beginning of the North Sectional championship. The team received a plaque and was saluted by all teams and spectators. Well done team!

Girls and Boys swimming and diving teams result

Our Girls and Boys swimming and diving teams participated at the North Sectional at MIT last Saturday. All our athletes did very well swimming fast times. The qualifying swimmers will participate at the State Tournament to be held at BU this weekend.

Boys volleyball team meeting on Thursday, February, 27

The Boys volleyball team will have an informational meeting on Thursday, February, 27.

The meeting will take place at the Wellness classroom. Coach Coffeen will attend.

Boys and girls track and field teams results

Boys and girls track and field teams competed at the Div. 1 State  Championship at Reggie Lewis on Wednesday. Lucy Jenks is the State champion in the mile and in the 4X800 relay along with Amelia Everett, Lottie McLeod, and Lily Bulczynski.

Justin Levy finished second in the 600. Members of both teams contributed to the teams’ placement. The Girls team finished 6 and the Boys’ team finished 13.

Several athletes will run at the All-State championship on Saturday, February 22nd. at 10:30 AM. The meet will be held at Reggie Lewis Track.

We need your donations for Newton South Booster Club Community Yard Sale this Spring!  As you do your spring cleaning this year, please consider saving some items for donation to the Booster Club community yard sale scheduled for the first 2 weekends in May.  We will start collecting items in the middle of April.  We hope to raise several thousand dollars for South teams thanks to your donated items!
