Junior Film Critics workshop @ Belmont World Film’s Family Festival in Newton

Belmont World Film is holding is 20th Family Festival starting this coming Saturday, January 14 in Newtonville. One of the activities includes a “Become a Junior Film Critic” workshop led by legendary arts and entertainment critic Joyce Kulhawik (she was the very first TV arts critic in Boston, in fact) and Cambridge Day food and film critic Tom Meek (who was president of the Boston Society of Film Critics for 10 years).

The workshop is geared to children age 9+.

We are showing some terrific films fro around the world, too–85% of them are based on children’s books, and many feature subtitles (which will be read aloud through headphones for the very young). The screenings support the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks in both ELA and Foreign Language in fact! The first day of screenings takes place at the West Newton Cinema, with additional days in Watertown, Cambridge, and Arlington. There is also a short virtual window for most of the films as well.
