The new family meet and greets are a way we help new families become familiar with Newton South. The events are hosted by current families in their yards (or inside their homes) The host will typically have light snack or beverages available (not required). The principal, vice principal, and a dean will take questions for approximately one hour.
The host family typically has an incoming 9th grader but is not themselves a new family to South. All meet and greets are held from 6-7.

It’s time to think about Southfest! Every year, the PTSO celebrates the senior class with an after-prom extravaganza held at a transformed Newton South. The entire class is invited – attending prom is optional – and the party includes food trucks, entertainment, inflatables, and more!
For more than 20 years, this event has been free for all seniors and their guests. Because costs have increased this year, we are counting on senior parents and caregivers to help fund the festivities. The suggested donation is $40; any contribution, however, will help us create a fun-filled night for seniors to be together and make memories, right here in Newton.

Southfest is an extravagant after-prom celebration, sponsored by the PTSO and held at a transformed Newton South. Staffed by parent volunteers, Southfest has been a fun tradition for graduating seniors for more than 20 years!
Here’s how it works: Senior parents operate behind the scenes, and junior parents run the event…so students don’t have their own parents as chaperones. Please donate or sign up for a role and shift today:
Passing Time is a fun Newton South activity where the halls are transformed into student exhibitions. Some students display art on the walls and tables, others set up their bands to play, one student did a magic show! During Passing Time the PTSO would like to have cookies and brownies for the students to enjoy during the event. As always there are a few ways to participate!
Midterm comments for term 3 are now available for viewing on Aspen. These can be found on the home page in Aspen and contain a list of classes, comments for these classes, and number of absences from class.

Attendance records are present for WIN (labeled as Lion/WIN Block), Advisory, and Directed Study. These courses will not have comments for them but will have absences and tardies recorded.
The Y or N in the attendance column is a snapshot for where students are with accordance to our new attendance policy.
Note that this is just a snapshot and that deans and/or teachers will be or already have been in contact with families of students who are at risk of not meeting the attendance standard in a given course.
If you have any questions about comments for a given course, please reach out directly to your/your student’s teacher. Questions about WIN block attendance can be directed to you/your student’s house office.
